I really believe that and I bet most parents feel this way about their children also, but what is considered "normal" when it comes to reaching milestones? Providing a good amount of nurturing, nutrition and health care, they will graduate to the next stages at a pace mostly determined by your child temperament and genes.
Babies built skills based on the environment. If the interaction with you is responsive and enriching, children will learn more skills and it opens the door to the next level of learning. Love, attention and nurturing play important roles in encouraging your childs accomplishments as they master each new skill. There is a wide range of what is considered normal infant development. Babies spend different amounts of time at each stage before moving on.
Some children will focus longer on a level and others may skip a level completely. There are timeframes for milestones that should be monitored but not used to compare to other children. Every human is different and we all develop at our own rate and in our own way. That's what makes us individuals.
BIRTH TO THREE MONTHS
Lifts and turns head,stretches out arms and legs, open hands and swipes at objects, holds eye contact and studies faces, makes first sounds and smiles(probably gas).
FOUR TO SIX MONTHS
Better depth perception, accurately tracks moving objects and people, reaches with both hands and can hold onto toys, starts sitting with help, cries less and babbles more.
SEVEN TO TWELVE MONTHS
Picks up objects with thumb and forefinger, uses facial expressions and gestures to communicate, advances from crawling(backwards) to walking.
